As part of its knowledge and networks strategy, AgriFin organized a Techniques of Agricultural Loan Appraisal Workshop held in Nairobi, Kenya at the Equity Bank headquarters.

During the 3-day workshop which included 2 days of interactive sessions and 1 day of field visits, participants had the opportunity to:

  •  present their own main tools and instruments deemed to be relevant, interesting to others and innovative, demonstrate their use and application, and explain their comparative advantages and deficits
  • review the comparative advantages and usefulness of the different tools and instruments of fellow participants/peers and contribute to their improvement
  • discuss on the further need for further developing methodologies, tools and instruments

Participants were inspired by the tools and saw the need to customize the different tools where relevant to the respective target groups of MSEs, agricultural SMEs, groups and outgrowers to prevailing local circumstances. The approach of NMB’s financing of sugarcane outgrowers was mentioned several times as model to be used for other crops. Watch the video below to find out what some of the participants had to say about the workshop.
