Mr. Sonmale shares SAFL's experience in providing long term investment financing for farmers. He focuses on financing irrigation systems and explains the underwriting and structuring of loans for this kind of fixed asset.  

 About the Speaker

Mr. Arvind Sonmale Managing Director & CEO, Sustainable Agro-Commercial Finance Ltd.

Arvind Sonmale is a career Banker having been in the industry for over 39 years. He started his banking career as a Probationary Officer in State Bank of India in July 1975. His 9 years with State Bank of India (SBI) took him through various areas of banking responsibilities. He joined the newly formed Export-Import Bank of India at the end of 1984. During a 20 year stint with the Bank, he carried out responsibilities related to Project Finance, Trade Finance, Financing Joint Ventures, Treasury, supervising overseas offices and many others. In 2004, he was the Chief General Manager handling Corporate Finance and Recoveries in Exim Bank, Mumbai.

In December, 2004, Arvind Sonmale took over as Managing Director and CEO of Global Trade Finance Ltd. (GTF) promoted by Exim Bank with equity participation from IFC, Washington and FIM Bank, Malta. GTF was a leading finance company in India, which was actively engaged in Trade Finance aimed at the SME sector in India. This association ended in April 2010. He has been engaged in setting up SAFL since August 2010 from the drawing board stage and is currently heading it.
